There are lots of crowdfunding sites to choose from. They are all similar and there really isn't one that's better than another. However, do your research before choosing one. Here are some questions you need to ask:

  • What are their fees?
  • Can I do a flexible amount (you take what you get - usually for a higher fee) or do I have pick an amount and walk away if it isn't reached?
  • How big is their following?

Also, read reviews and success stories. Are some of those success stories similar to your business?

Once you decide on a platform, you need to do a pitch video.

In this video from Entrepreneur, Shark Barbara Corcoran talks about what you need to do to capture a crowd and be successful in crowdfunding.

The key to crowdfunding success is:

  • Be genuine in your pitch (video).
  • Give a nice perk or reward for investing.

It also helps if you have a social media following. Greater Phoenix SCORE holds regular classes on social media. Click here for the schedule.
