So, I'm helping a client setup his business online and I go to Google My Business - it's how you let Google know that you exist. Except, they've made some changes! Before, you could choose between setting up a "Location" or a "Brand Page". Location is for a local, brick-and-mortar business. A brand page were for home-based and ecommerce businesses. NOT ANY MORE!

Now Google My Business is now just for local, brick-and-mortar businesses! What is a new home-based or ecommerce business to do?

I called Google and they basically told me that if you have a local business and you want to come up in Google Maps, you need to have your physical address verified local through Google My Business. That said, I asked what if you're not a brick-and-mortar business? Can't use it. Period.

However, there is the alternative for setting up an ecommerce or home-based business on Google -- Google Plus.

I explain how to setup a brick-and-mortar as well as an ecommerce or home-based busiess so that Google will notice you.

Ignore Google at your peril!

Even if you're not a new, you need to go check to see how Google sees your business.
